Shri Vishnu Stuti(Shantakaram Bhujagashayanam) English Meaning
1. May we meditate upon Lord Vishnu, who is adorned in white garments, who is as radiant as the moon, who has four arms, and whose face is serene. Meditating on Him removes all obstacles. 2. I bow to Lord Vishnu, the one with a peaceful appearance, who rests on the serpent, who has a lotus in His navel, and who is the ruler of gods. He is the support of the universe, vast like the sky, dark as a rain cloud, and of auspicious form. He is Lakshmi’s consort, lotus-eyed, reachable through meditation by yogis, and the remover of worldly fears. He is the one true Lord of all worlds. 3. In times of illness, I think of Vishnu; during meals, of Janardana. While sleeping, I meditate upon Padmanabha, and at weddings, I remember Prajapati. In battle, I think of the Lord who wields the discus; when traveling, I remember Trivikrama. At the time of death, I think of Narayana; in times of happiness, I remember Shridhar. In bad dreams, I remember Govinda; in difficulties, I think of Madhusudana. In the forest, I remember Narasimha; in fire, Jalashayi (the one who lies in water). In the water, I think of Varaha; on the mountain, I remember the descendent of Raghu. While traveling, I think of Vamana; and in all actions, I think of Madhava. 4. Whoever recites these sixteen names of Lord Vishnu upon waking in the morning will be freed from all sins and attain Vishnu's divine abode.
